PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA The Board recessed for a meeting of the Cass County Building Authority and upon reconvening, Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to approve action of the Building Authority for payment of Disbursement Direction #29. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to receive and file the Indemnity Bond on Lost Instrument for the Grandin Rural Fire District, and authorize the County Auditor to issue a duplicate check. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. County Auditor Ordelle Brua informed the Commission that she received a Quit Claim Deed from Attorney Jacque Stockman to Cass County from Oscar and Adra Simonson for Lot 1 and Lot 17, South Haven Subdivision, located in Stanley Township. It was noted that a drain flows through both lots. Mr. Wieland suggested referring the matter to the States Attorney before the County accepts it. Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to receive and file a letter from Clinton Lowe regarding a road matter, and that the Chairman respond by answering his questions. Motion carried. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive and file the quarterly activity report of the U.S. Custom Service. Motion carried. On motion by Mr. Larson and seconded by Mr. Eckert, the meeting was adjourned. (see page No. 6413) 'ECEIVEb OCT 2 21987 CASS COUNTY AUDITOR (s PRESS RELEASE: JUDGE DONALD J. COOKE I have been diagnosed as being an alcoholic. Alcoholism has been defined as a major disease by the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. To deal with the illness, I have entered St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I will be undergoing treatment. I have been told that the usual course of treatment takes four weeks. I have been advised that chemically dependent individuals are not capable of perceiving their own dependency and the effects of this dependency. In my case I have tried to stop drinking on my own. I have sought help from a treatment facility in the past, have had a relapse, and have continued to drink. This time I have every intention of'staying the full course of hospitalization at St. Mary's and complying in every respect with the after -care program prescribed. With the support of my family, friends and colleagues, I have every expectation of overcoming my current disability.
