REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />JULY 28, 1987 <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order with all members <br />present as follows: Jeannette Stanton, Don Eckert, Oscar Sondrall, <br />Ray Larson and Alon Wieland. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to grant approval <br />of a utility permit for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for <br />a service line to a residence at the corner of County Roads 17 and <br />20. Motion carried. <br />Correspondence from the State Highway Department regarding 1988 <br />projects for the Federal Aid Secondary Program was referred to County <br />Engineer Don Richards. <br />The Chairman referred a letter to the County Engineer regarding <br />a drainage problem along County Road 11 in the Mapleton city limits. <br />Chairman Wieland questioned the County's policy on controlling <br />the number of accesses to County roads, and the matter will be referred <br />to the County Planning Commission. <br />Architect Richard Moorhead presented sketches for a proposed <br />entry courtyard plaza on the east side of the Courthouse between the <br />front steps and 9th Street at an estimated cost of $36,000.00. <br />Chairman Wieland requested Architect Moorhead to proceed with <br />the design and call for bids for completion of remodeling the employee <br />brown bag area in the basement of the Courthouse North Wing. <br />The Commission discussed water damage in Courthouse offices on <br />the west side of the North Wing after recent wind and heavy rain. <br />Architect Richard Moorhead reported that two people from his firm <br />inspected the situation, and they have some suggestions and <br />recommendations in terms of building maintenance. He stated that <br />there is still some question as to the completeness of what the problem <br />indicates. Mr. Wieland suggested having the water stains removed <br />from carpeted areas, and he requested that Commissioner Sondrall work <br />with the Architect to make necessary repairs to insure that this does <br />not happen again. <br />Mr. Eckert moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to reappoint <br />Commissioners Jeannette Stanton and Ray Larson and to reappoint Mrs. <br />Florenz Bjornson to the Cass County Social Services Board for <br />three -year terms to expire July 31, 1990. Motion carried. The term <br />of Mr. Bernard Holes of Hunter expires July 31, 1987, and Mr. Holes <br />does not wish to be reappointed. The Commission will consider a <br />replacement for Mr. Holes at the next meeting. <br />
