A public hearing on establishing a Cass County Vector Control District will be held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at the Cass County Courthouse. Representatives of the North Dakota State Health Department will be present. Administrative Assistant Scott Krueger reported that the County's NCR computer equipment is scheduled to be converted to IBM computers in the next few months, and he is aware of three parties who may be interested in purchasing the NCR equipment. Mrs. Stanton suggested advertising the equipment for sale. Administrative Assistant Scott Krueger presented the Chairman with a letter stating that he will be leaving the County employ September 1st, or soon after 1988 budget preparation as mutually convenient, in order to pursue other challenges. Following the reading of Mr. Krueger's letter, Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Eckert seconded to accept the resignation with regret and encourage Mr. Krueger to remain in the County's employ through September if he is able to do so because of the budget situation. Motion carried. Mr. Krueger suggested looking at the possibility of hiring a Director of Administrative Services, as mentioned in "The Cass County Report and hire an Administrative Assistant to work solely with the Commission. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that Commissioners Stanton and Wieland serve on a committee to replace the Administrative Assistant. Motion carried. Mr. Al Spielman representing Bonanzaville, U.S.A. appeared before the Board with a suggestion that the Commission consider following the guidelines of the State Historical Board wherein certain elected officials of Cass County would be involved in Bonanzaville as voting members. He suggested that the Commission request a change in the by -laws to allow this. Mr. Larson reported on a meeting of the proposed joint law enforcement center committee, and it was suggested that a committee of four or five people be appointed to review site proposals. County Commissioners Ray Larson and Alon Wieland will represent the County on reviewing preliminary site proposals, and a letter will be written to the Fargo Chief of Police requesting the appointment of two representatives from the City of Fargo and that he and Sheriff Don Rudnick should select a member at large. A committee meeting will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 4, 1987, in the Courthouse. Correspondence was received from Mary Witt, Executive President of the Red River Valley Fair Association, enclosing a copy of their 1988 budget request and asking the Commission to consider increasing the Fair levy to one mill. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive and file the request for financial assistance from the Red River Dance Performing Company. Motion carried.
