REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FEBRUARY 25, 1986 <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order and upon roll <br />call, all members were present. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the minutes <br />of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />A hearing was held on the Application for Abatement and Settlement <br />of Taxes submitted by Beverly J. Mitchell. Mrs. Stanton moved and <br />Mr. Larson seconded that Abatement No. 3827 be approved as recommended <br />by the County Director of Tax Equalization. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />A hearing was held on the Application for Abatement and Settlement <br />of Taxes submitted by Premier Technology. Mr. Sondrall moved and <br />Mr. Larson seconded that Abatement No. 3809 be approved as recommended <br />by the County Director of Tax Equalization. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. William J. Woell appeared before the Board regarding his <br />request two weeks ago for something in writing from the Commission <br />on their investigation of a matter in the Clerk of Court's Office. <br />He submitted a letter from himself directed to the Commission dated <br />February 23, 1986. Discussion followed after which it was agreed <br />that Commissioner Stanton and Mr. Woell will to go the Clerk of Court's <br />Office and review both sides of the situation, and Mr. Wieland stated <br />that he will respond to Mr. Woell in writing by next Monday. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive and file <br />the Cass County Historical Society financial statement for the year <br />1985, as presented by Ken McIntyre. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Jay Schmallen, Chairman of the Fargo Chamber of Commerce <br />Streets and Highways Committee, was present and submitted written <br />comments on the Metropolitan Council of Governments Metropolitan Area <br />Highway Plan Update. Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that <br />the Cass County Commission not support the 12th Avenue North bridge <br />concept but support a bridge at 19th Avenue North instead. At the <br />call for the question, the motion failed with Mrs. Stanton and Mr. <br />Larson voting "Aye Mr. Wieland, Mr. Eckert and Mr. Sondrall opposing. <br />Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the Cass County <br />Commission not adopt the Metropolitan Area Highway Plan Update. The <br />motion failed with Mr. Larson and Mrs. Stanton voting "Aye Mr. <br />Wieland, Mr. Eckert and Mr. Sondrall opposing. <br />Mr. Eckert moved to adopt the Metropolitan Area Highway Plan <br />Update as recommended by the Fargo Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Stanton <br />seconded the motion for discussion but stated that the plan affects <br />more than County roads and bridges.
