REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />NOVEMBER 26, 1985 <br />Chairman Ray Larson called the meeting to order with four members <br />present, Don Eckert arriving later. <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the minutes <br />of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Frank Kadlec from Eide, Helmeke Company appeared before <br />the Board regarding the search for a data processing manager. <br />Chairman Larson appointed Commissioners Wieland and Stanton to <br />interview the final three candidates selected by Eide, Helmeke; and <br />the Commission will plan to make a decision on December 17th to hire <br />a data processing manager. Discussion was delayed on the data <br />processing study until Commissioner Eckert can be present. <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs Stanton seconded to adopt the following <br />policy: Employees will be allowed 8 hours of "storm leave" time when, <br />1) the Sheriff delays opening or closes the Courthouse, or 2) a <br />department head allows an employee to leave early due to weather, <br />this policy being on a calendar year basis retroactive to January, <br />1985 and excluding the County Road and Sheriff Departments with the <br />exception of the clerical employees. Any time lost from work in excess <br />of 8 hours under said policy will be deducted from employee annual <br />leave. Storm leave will not accumulate. The motion carried on roll <br />call vote with all members present voting "Aye <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to authorize Scott <br />Krueger, Administrative Assistant, to advertise for bids for Cass <br />County Environmental Systems Maintenance. The motion carried on roll <br />call vote with all members present voting "Aye <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Eckert seconded that Sheriff Don <br />Rudnick be authorized to purchase Law Enforcement Officers' Liability <br />Insurance at an annual cost of $28,402.00, and that the Chairman be <br />authorized to sign the proper document. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried with five members voting "Aye Mr. Eckert being present at <br />this time. The Sheriff will obtain figures for next week on including <br />County Commissioners under the policy. <br />County Engineer Don Richards reported that the Road Department <br />may spend an additional $150,000.00 for snow removal due to recent <br />large amounts of snowfall. The Commission requested an update in <br />the next two weeks. <br />Mr. Frank Kadlec from Eide, Helmeke Company returned to further <br />discuss the data processing study. Mr. Eckert questioned why the <br />data processing manager, which the County intends to hire, cannot <br />do the data processing study as part of his duties. The Administrative <br />Assistant stated that by having Eide, Helmeke do the study it will <br />be completed in about four months instead of one year.
