CONTRACT APPROVAL, North Dakota Department of Transportation/Mark Sand & <br />,-- Gravel: Valley Gravel Products: Braun Intertec Corp: John Deere Credit: North Dakota <br />Department of Transportation Traffic Safetv Grant: Youthworks/Juvenile Justice & <br />Delinauency Prevention Act: North Dakota Department of Transportation/Industrial <br />Builders <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the <br />following contracts submitted by respective department head, subject to <br />state's attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />11. <br /> <br />_ North Dakota Department of Transportation--resolution accepting low bid of Mark <br />Sand & Gravel Acquisition Company in the amount of $2,519,682.48 for Cass County <br />Highway 26 reconstruction project; <br />_ Valley Gravel Products--purchase of gravel for defined quantities and locations and <br />the unit price for indefinite quantity deliveries; <br />_ Braun Intertec Corp.--contract to conduct non-destructive pavement testing of county <br />highway pavements; <br />_ John Deer Credit--extension of an existing rental agreement for an additional year <br />lease of a John Deer track dozer; <br />_ North Dakota Department of Transportation--Traffic Safety Grant to allow for <br />increased alcohol enforcement, and amend the Sheriffs Department budget <br />accordingly; <br />_ Youthworks/Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Act--2002 funding application; <br />North Dakota Department of Transportation--resolution accepting low bid of Industrial <br />Builders in the amount of $326,569.19 for the Cass County Bridge Project BRO- <br />9(026) in Berlin Township. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #2002-9, Honorina Brian Shorten, Metro COG <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to adopt the following <br />Resolution #2002-9, as follows: On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />r-- <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Brian Shorten has served as the Executive Director of the Fargo-Moorhead <br />Metropolitan Council of Governments for over 16 years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Brian Shorten provided a valuable service coordinating projects for the local <br />governments which he served; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Brian Shorten's exemplary skills were evident in the efficient manner in which <br />he worked on various studies, with appropriate follow-up efforts to bring the <br />plans to fruition; and <br /> <br />,-- <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Brian Shorten has resigned from his position as the Executive Director of the <br />Metropolitan Council of Governments to pursue other employment out of the <br />Fargo-Moorhead area. <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of Cass County, North <br />Dakota, hereby congratulates Brian Shorten on his 16 years of service as Executive Director <br />
