<br />12. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />13. <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Commission Minutes-May 6, 2002 2438 <br /> <br />ROAD DEPARTMENT, Purchase order for mower from RDO EQuipment Company <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to authorize the chairman <br />to sign a purchase order for a mower in the amount of $13,400.00 <br />from RDO Equipment Company in Fargo. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />PERMIT FOR FIREWORKS DISPLAY, Approved for ROQer Melvin. Wizard Works. Inc. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve a fireworks <br />display permit for Roger A. Melvin, Wizard Works, Inc. at Page, North <br />Dakota, on the date of June 8, 2002. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />CONTRACT APPROVAL, Traffic Safety Grant: ASTECH Corporation: North Dakota <br />Department of Transportation: North Dakota Association of Counties Joint Powers <br />AQreement <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve the following <br />contracts submitted by respective department head, subject to state's <br />attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign: On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />North Dakota Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Grant contract <br />amendment for additional seat belt enforcement and related budget adjustment in <br />the Sheriff's Department budget in the amount of $4,500; <br />ASTECH Corporation--seal coat project on County Highways 6 and 38 in the <br />amount of $189,490.71; <br />North Dakota Department of Transportation--maintenance certification on County <br />Federal Aid Projects; <br />North Dakota Association of Counties Joint Powers Agreement--Cass County <br />Social Services participation in a state-wide HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability <br />and Accountability Act) project up to an amount of $8,060. <br /> <br />15. <br /> <br />SOCIAL SERVICES/EXTENSION SERVICE EMPLOYEES, Award recoQnition <br />Rainer Lobitz, Social Services, was present to introduce the four employees in Cass County's <br />Parent Aide Service who received the 2002 Distinguished Program Award for outstanding <br />contributions in serving North Dakota's children and families. The award was given by the North <br />Dakota Family Based Service Association. Mr. Lobitz said the parent aid program has the <br />original staff that started this service over 20 years ago. With no staff turnover, he said they <br />have a combined service experience of 78 years. At this time, he introduced Sandy Gardner, <br />Phyllis Schreiner, Ginny Leon and Dawn Sparks, as well as their supervisor, Kathy Suede!. <br /> <br />Two other award recipients were also present, Becki Lawler and Stephanie Volk, who were <br />introduced by Alice Swenson, Cass County Social Services. The United States Department of <br />Agriculture presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Cass County Food Stamp Office, with <br />individual certificates to the two Cass County Extension Service employees in recognition of <br />sustained and innovative nutrition education activities benefiting the health of Cass County <br />citizens. The Board congratulated all of these employees on receiving the awards. <br />
