12. -- 13. 14. -- -- Commission Minutes-May 6, 2002 2438 ROAD DEPARTMENT, Purchase order for mower from RDO EQuipment Company MOTION, passed Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to authorize the chairman to sign a purchase order for a mower in the amount of $13,400.00 from RDO Equipment Company in Fargo. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. PERMIT FOR FIREWORKS DISPLAY, Approved for ROQer Melvin. Wizard Works. Inc. MOTION, passed Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve a fireworks display permit for Roger A. Melvin, Wizard Works, Inc. at Page, North Dakota, on the date of June 8, 2002. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. CONTRACT APPROVAL, Traffic Safety Grant: ASTECH Corporation: North Dakota Department of Transportation: North Dakota Association of Counties Joint Powers AQreement MOTION, passed Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to approve the following contracts submitted by respective department head, subject to state's attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign: On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. North Dakota Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Grant contract amendment for additional seat belt enforcement and related budget adjustment in the Sheriff's Department budget in the amount of $4,500; ASTECH Corporation--seal coat project on County Highways 6 and 38 in the amount of $189,490.71; North Dakota Department of Transportation--maintenance certification on County Federal Aid Projects; North Dakota Association of Counties Joint Powers Agreement--Cass County Social Services participation in a state-wide HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) project up to an amount of $8,060. 15. SOCIAL SERVICES/EXTENSION SERVICE EMPLOYEES, Award recoQnition Rainer Lobitz, Social Services, was present to introduce the four employees in Cass County's Parent Aide Service who received the 2002 Distinguished Program Award for outstanding contributions in serving North Dakota's children and families. The award was given by the North Dakota Family Based Service Association. Mr. Lobitz said the parent aid program has the original staff that started this service over 20 years ago. With no staff turnover, he said they have a combined service experience of 78 years. At this time, he introduced Sandy Gardner, Phyllis Schreiner, Ginny Leon and Dawn Sparks, as well as their supervisor, Kathy Suede!. Two other award recipients were also present, Becki Lawler and Stephanie Volk, who were introduced by Alice Swenson, Cass County Social Services. The United States Department of Agriculture presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Cass County Food Stamp Office, with individual certificates to the two Cass County Extension Service employees in recognition of sustained and innovative nutrition education activities benefiting the health of Cass County citizens. The Board congratulated all of these employees on receiving the awards.
