<br />Commission Minutes--May 16, 2005 <br /> <br />2900 <br /> <br />Mr. Vigesaa said he understands Keith Berndt, County Engineer, met with the Stanley <br />Township Board and that the township signed a letter supporting the special assessment <br />district for Greyhawk Estates Subdivision. <br /> <br />Mr. Berndt will verify receipt of a letter from the township. He said this project includes <br />paving part of a mile line township road and he recommends the project proceed today, <br />subject to a written understanding by Stanley Township acknowledging that the township <br />will continue to assume liability for the road after the project is complete. Mr. Pawluk <br />suggested that the agreement include liability by the township during the construction also. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to authorize the chairman <br />and the county auditor to sign Resolution #2005-12 Authorizing the <br />Issuance of Improvement Warrants and Exchanging Them for $380,000 <br />Refunding Improvement Bonds of 2005, as well as related documents <br />from Dougherty & Company, LLC for Amended Street Improvement <br />District #2004-1, Greyhawk Estates Subdivision; and instruct the county <br />engineer to seek a written agreement with Stanley Township in regard to <br />liability for the road. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />13. PARK PROPOSAL, Erie Township request to maintain road to Brewer Lake <br />Mr. Berndt received a request from Erie Township for the county to maintain the township <br />road leading to the county park at Brewer Lake. Since the county has not historically <br />maintained township roads, he is bringing the request to the county commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Pawluk asked about traffic volume on the road, and Mr. Berndt does not believe a traffic <br />count has been done. He said he could make the arrangements to put a traffic counter on <br />this road for a week or two. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to direct the county <br />engineer to draft correspondence declining to take over maintenance of <br />the Erie Township road. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />14. ORDINANCE #2004-1 AMENDED, Second readin~/adoption, vector control buildin~ <br />Birch Burdick, State's Attorney, said today was advertised for second reading of an <br />amendment to Cass County Ordinance #2004-1 providing for the construction and financing <br />of a vector control building. The amended ordinance increases the amount of money from <br />$900,000 to $1,000,000 as a maximum for the project cost. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to approve the second <br />reading and adopt Amended Ordinance #2004-1, Vector Building Project. <br />On roll call vote, the motion carried with three members voting "Aye" <br />and Mrs. Sorum opposing. <br /> <br />15. VECTOR CONTROL BUILDING, Bids awarded to Lee Jones & Son, Peterson <br />Mechanical and Charlie & Sons Electric <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, said bids were delayed several weeks ago for <br />construction of a new vector control facility. <br />
