On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />CONTRACT APPROVAUSHERIFF'S BUDGET ADJUSTMENT, North Dakota Deoartment <br />of Transoortation <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the <br />following contract submitted by respective department head, subject <br />to state's attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign: North <br />Dakota Department of Transportation in the amount of $4,200 for <br />alcohol compliance checks. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve a 2001 <br />budget adjustment increasing revenue line item 101-3501-331.55-05 <br />by $1 ,050.00 and increasing expenditure line item 101-3502-421.10-36 <br />by $1,050.00; and approve a 2002 budget adjustment increasing the <br />same revenue line item by $3,150.00 and increasing the same <br />expenditure line item by $3,150.00. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />ROAD DEPARTMENT, Leonard Elevator road <br />Keith Berndt, County Engineer, said he was contacted by Clark Holzworth, General Manager <br />ofthe Chaffee Lynchberg Farmers Elevator, with a requestthat Cass County consider assuming <br />ownership and maintenance of 1.4 miles of new road being constructed as part of a $7 million <br />elevator expansion project in Leonard. The new road will be on the mile line west of Leonard <br />and is intended to provide a connection between the elevator and State Highway 46. This would <br />provide another route so elevator traffic does not have to travel through the town of Leonard to <br />reach State Highway 18. <br /> <br />Mr. Berndt said the county has not typically assumed maintenance of roads other than county <br />roads, and he suggested adopting a policy to address future requests if the county is inclined <br />to assume ownership and future maintenance of this road. He said Cass County maintained <br />a road leading to the Woods Elevator for a number of years, however, that was discontinued at <br />least six years ago. <br /> <br />Clark Holzworth was present representing the Chaffee Lynchberg Elevator, and he provided <br />preliminary construction plans for the Dakota Vision, LLC elevator expansion access road to <br />Leonard. He talked about the project and said they are in a position to construct the road but <br />
