Originally,
the drain in Beth EI was going to be filled in and routed another direction by Beth EI Memorial
Park. This would have created problems for both Holy Cross and Springvale Cemeteries,
according to Mr. Montplaisir, who reviewed the situation last spring with Mr. Wagner and the
County Engineer, Keith Berndt. Since Springvale Cemetery did not have a problem with
drainage before, the county representatives wanted to be sure there would not be a problem
after the dirt work at Beth EI.

In a letter to the County Auditor last spring, Jerome D. Feder, Chairman of Beth EI Memorial
Park, asked the county to pay one-half of the $7,315.00 cost of dirt work because the project
design was changed to include a culvert so the water from Springvale and Holy Cross would still
drain through Beth EI. Mr. Wagner placed this item on the agenda for the Board's consideration
today, as he believes the county should make a financial contribution to the project. However,
he thought 50% was too high since the majority of benefit goes to Beth EI Memorial Park and
since drainage was not a problem at Springvale before.
