<br />,.-.. <br /> <br />15. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />/""' <br /> <br />Commission Minutes--April 2, 2001 2265 <br /> <br />Since this has been an ongoing situation which has been discussed previously by the Cass <br />County Road Advisory Committee, Mr. Wieland asked the chairman to appoint a committee <br />consisting of one county commissioner, Keith Berndt and Frank Klein to meet with Mr. Irby and <br />Mr. Ratchenski to make a recommendation forthe full board's consideration at a future meeting. <br />The Cass County State's Attorney will also be consulted in this matter. Board members were <br />in agreement with Mr. Wieland's suggestion that the chairman appoint a committee, which will <br />be done in the next day or two. <br /> <br />METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS, GIS Plan aDDroved <br />Keith Berndt, County Engineer, provided a copy to the County Commission Office ofThe Fargo- <br />Moorhead Advanced Metropolitan GIS Plan Final Draft Dated December 12, 2000, prepared by <br />PlanSightLLG He gave some history on the progress of GIS (Geographic Information System) <br />through meetings that have been held for the past several years with the various entities <br />working together toward a common goal. The plan was presented to the Fargo-Moorhead <br />Metropolitan Council of Governments Policy Board at the annual meeting held December 14, <br />2000. <br /> <br />Mr. Berndt commented on the outstanding dialogue and working relationship between Cass <br />County and the City of Fargo, with a similar partnering of entities between Clay County and the <br />City of Moorhead. He asked for continued support of GIS from Cass County Commissioners. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve the <br />Advanced Metropolitan GIS Plan for use as a guide in future GIS <br />development decisions. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />16. <br /> <br />FARGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AdoDt-a-School Proaram considered <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, introduced Steve Backsen, Executive Director, Fargo <br />Public Schools Foundation, who was present to discuss a volunteer partnership between a local <br />school and an area business or organization. Mr. Backsen provided information in addition to <br />printed materials regarding the Adopt-A-School Program for participation by Cass County <br />employees, if there is enough interest and the County Commission approves it. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said the materials were provided to Cass County department heads for their input, <br />and she did not hear back from any of them. If the Board is in favor of this program, she would <br />suggest that the Personnel Overview Committee adopt guidelines concerning the number of <br />hours per month of paid leave per employee so it would not be a detriment to any department. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to determine <br />whether interest exists from county volunteers in the Fargo Public <br />Schools Adopt-A-School Program, and if so, become a participant in <br />the program by formally adopting Longfellow School as a partner; <br />and direct the County Coordinator to work with the Fargo Public <br />Schools to set up the program. On roll call vote, motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />
