<br />Commission Minutes--ApriI18, 2005 2886 <br /> <br />9. ABATEMENT APPLICATIONS, Approved for Lee Payne <br />MOT/ON, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded that abatement #4268 and <br />#4269 for Lee Payne be approved, as recommended by the Berlin <br />Township Board and the Director of Equalization. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />10. ROAD DEPARTMENT, Reject bids for semi-tractor; purchase from State bid contract <br />MOT/ON, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to reject all bids received <br />March 8, 2005, and purchase a 2006 semi-tractor from the State bid <br />contract from ROO Mack in the amount of $68,228.00. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />11. CONTRACT APPROVAL, Swanston EQuipment Company; City of Mapleton <br />MOT/ON, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to approve the following <br />contract submitted by respective department head, subject to state's <br />attorney approval, and authorize the chairman to sign: On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />- Swanston Equipment Company-pavement marking installation project on <br />various Cass County highways; <br />- City of Mapleton-2005 adult mosquito control agreement. <br /> <br />12. COMMISSION POLICY MANUAL AMENDED, Weed Board appointment <br />MOT/ON, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to appoint Yvette Gehrke <br />to represent the City of West Fargo on the Cass County Weed Control <br />Board to complete the unexpired term of Tom Moores, as requested by <br />the West Fargo Public Works Director in a letter to Cass County dated <br />April 11 , 2005. The term of Ms. Gehrke will expire July 1, 2006. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />13. COURT FACILITIES IMPROVEMENT GRANTS, Application approved <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, said the Court Facilities Improvement Advisory <br />Committee is initiating its second round of grants to counties for court facilities improvement <br />and maintenance projects. Presiding Judge Georgia Dawson was also present to express <br />support of the grant application, which includes carpet and paint, security upgrades and new <br />jury chairs in the courtrooms. Mrs, Johnson said the grant application totals $102,000, of <br />which 25% would be paid by Cass County. <br />MOT/ON, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the application <br />for the second round of court facilities improvement grants in the <br />amount of $102,000, with the State's share being $76,500 and the county <br />share being $25,500. Discussion: Mr. Wagner serves on the Court <br />Facilities Improvement Advisory Committee, and he commented on how <br />this process works. At the call for the question and on roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />
