ROAD DEPARTMENT, County Highway 17 closing during Horace street dance <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to authorize closing <br />of County Highway 17 for a Horace Street Dance on either September <br />17 or September 22 for approximately four to five hours, according to <br />a memorandum from the County Engineer, dated August 14,2000. On <br />roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />14. CONTRACT APPROVAL, Tri-State Striping <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve the <br />following contract submitted by respective department head and <br />portfolio commissioner, subject to state's attorney approval; and <br />authorize the chairman to sign: Tri-State Striping in the amount of <br />$40,083.11 for pavement marking installation on various locations in <br />Cass County. On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />15. BUDGET REVIEW, Preliminary budget approved at 76.39 mills/public hearing set <br />Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor, provided copies of a 2001 budget summary, as well as <br />copies of the Notice to Taxpayers of Hearing on County Budget, which will be published in the <br />official newspaper on August 28, 2000. Commissioners began budget meetings with <br />department heads and outside agencies last week and continuing into this week. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to adopt the 2001 <br />preliminary county budget at 76.39 mills; to set a hearing date of <br />September 18, 2000, at 3:30 PM in the Commission Room, Cass <br />County Courthouse; and to direct the County Auditor to prepare a <br />budget summary for publication in the County's official newspaper. <br />On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />16. FLOOD MASTER PLAN COMMITTEE REPORT, Future meeting with Water Resource Board <br />Keith Berndt, County Engineer, and Commissioner Quick provided a brief history of meetings <br />and activities of the Cass County Flood Master Plan Committee, which was formed after the <br />1997 spring flood. Commissioners received a letter dated July 12, 2000, concerning the Flood <br />Master Plan Committee Report, signed by Mrs. Quick as the committee chairperson. <br /> <br />Mr. Berndt outlined the following committee recommendations to the County Commission: <br /> <br />1) Accept the Cass County Flood Mitigation Plan Report completed by Moore Engineering; <br />2) Endorse standardized flood plain management in Cass County; <br />3) Endorse green ways adjacent to the rivers; <br />4) Endorse flood mitigation measures before floods occur; <br />
