The assessment increased from $77,400 to $99,000, and he believes that is too high.
MOTION, passed
Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Koenig seconded to table this appeal
until further information is provided to the board in writing, with
further consideration when the County Board of Equalization
reconvenes on June 19, 2000. Motion carried unanimously.

Randal Woodley asked to address the County Board of Equalization at this time concerning the
assessment on his property in Reed Township. He said he purchased the home from the Reed
Township Assessor in January, 1999, and it is being assessed $10,000 higher for 2000. He
said he paid $132,000 for the property, which was flooded in 1997 and had some mechanical
items replaced.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to table any action
on this appeal for further documentation. Motion carried
unanimously. Mr Wieland suggested that Mr. Woodley discuss the
procedure to follow with County Director of Equalization, Mr. Klein.

Daniel Pease asked to address the County Board of Equalization at this time concerning the
assessment on his property located at 3610 County Road 17 North, in Reed Township. He said
he built the home five years ago for $68,000 and spent $8,500 for a barn that was destroyed
by a wind storm last July. He spent $10,500 for a new one but it is smaller than the original one,
and his taxes still went up. He said he has been unable to communicate with the township
assessor. Mr. Klein will review the information further with Mr. Pease.

Robert Sedevie asked to address the County Board of Equalization at this time concerning the
assessment on his property located at 407 16th Avenue NW in Reed Township. He said he has
been unable to communicate with the township assessor also. He said his home, which was
built in 1961, was remodeled recently because of a fire and the basement was just finished. He
also talked about water problems on his property. The Board directed him to discuss the matter
further with Mr. Klein also.

The Chairman asked if there were any more appeals to be made to the County Board of
Equalization at this time. Hearing none, the board proceeded with comments from Mr. Klein
who provided additional information for the board's consideration. He has been aware of a
number of assessments, particularly in the northwest part of the county, that appear to be far
below the sales price, and State law requires property to be assessed at the market value.

Mr. Klein said the county board can order a reassessment of a particular area if they feel there
are some inequities that are not being addressed by the local township or city board.
