<br />Commission Minutes--January 18, 2005 2852 <br /> <br />16. ROAD DEPARTMMENT, Purchase order for salt sand spreader <br />Keith Berndt, County Engineer, asked to add an item to the agenda for the purchase of a <br />salt sand spreader to replace one that recently broke down in the Highway Department. He <br />said the spreader is in poor condition overall and would not be worth spending several <br />thousand dollars, if replacement parts could be located. There are no funds in the 2005 <br />budget for this equipment; however, Mr. Berndt said he could cover the expense with <br />project funds. He said the loss of this machine would cause some inefficiency in the road <br />sanding operation; however, he could forego the purchase and budget for it next year. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to approve and authorize <br />the chairman to sign a purchase order for one highway material spreader <br />from Northwestern Equipment of Fargo in the amount of $13,384.00. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />17. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />194,105 through No. 194,575. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />18. MEETING UPDATES; LEGISLATION, Committee reports <br />Birch Burdick, State's Attorney, said he will be attending a conference in Mandan this week. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, reported that she and Commissioners Sorum and <br />Wagner met with officials from Clay County and the City of Moorhead last week concerning <br />economic development issues. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner and Mrs. Johnson were in Bismarck earlier today regarding proposed legislation <br />to lower 911 telephone fees and to discuss the indigent defense bill proposed amendments. <br /> <br />19. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />North Dakota Department of Transportation information on highway improvement project <br />planned for bridge structures over the Red River on Interstate 94 at mile point 352.454 to <br />add anti-icing system between Fargo and Moorhead; and information on highway <br />improvement project planned on U.S. Highway 10 in the city limits of West Fargo; <br />North Dakota Department of Health notice of permit application from Phoenix <br />International for an electrical generator in Fargo; <br />letter from Steve Stark, Fargo, concerning a recent Attorney General's opinion relative to <br />the Cass County Historical Society board of directors and North Dakota's open meetings <br />law; <br />notice of Red River Valley Fair Association board of directors meeting at 7:00 PM on <br />January 20, 2005, in the Ag Building at the fairgrounds. <br />
