Commission Minutes—September 2, 2014 4367 <br /> Jason Benson, County Engineer, said temporary flood fighting measures will be used similar <br /> to past flood events with protection tied in to County Highway 81 and along the east and <br /> north sides of the subdivision. Mr. Pawluk said long-term protection for this area would be <br /> provided by the diversion project. <br /> 10. FLOOD CONTROL, State Water Commission payment to City of Fargo approved <br /> During the last three legislative sessions, the state legislature approved a total of $175 <br /> million to be spent on flood control costs. This is the 30th request from the City of Fargo. <br /> Mr. Montplaisir said the reimbursement claim in the amount of $305,587 is the local match <br /> on costs for dike and levee work in Fargo. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Scherling moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to authorize the <br /> chairman to sign the approval letter for the State Water Commission to <br /> distribute funds in the amount of $305,587 to the City of Fargo pursuant <br /> to the terms and conditions of Senate Bill 2020. On roll call vote, the <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> 11. FLOOD CONTROL, State Water Commission payments to FM Diversion approved <br /> During the last three legislative sessions, the state legislature approved a total of $175 <br /> million to be spent on flood control costs. Two requests have been received from the FM <br /> Diversion Authority for reimbursement from the State Water Commission. The claims are <br /> for mitigation and construction related costs of the Oxbow-Hickson-Bakke (OHB) ring levee <br /> in the amount of$342,762 for July expenses and $861,162 for August expenses. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Scherling moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to authorize the <br /> chairman to sign the approval letter for the State Water Commission to <br /> distribute funds in the amount of $342,762 to the FM Diversion Authority <br /> pursuant to terms and conditions of Senate Bill 2020. On roll call vote, <br /> the motion carried unanimously. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Scherling moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to authorize the chairman <br /> to sign the approval letter for the State Water Commission to distribute <br /> funds in the amount of $861,162 to the FM Diversion Authority pursuant <br /> to terms and conditions of Senate Bill 2020. On roll call vote, the motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> 12. FLOOD DIVERSION MONTHLY BILLING, Approved <br /> Mr. Montplaisir discussed the billing from the FM Diversion Board of Authority for the month <br /> of August, 2014, which is the county's share of engineering costs, project management <br /> services, and construction work on the OHB ring levee. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Scherling moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to approve the <br /> expenses for the Flood Diversion Board of Authority in the amount of <br /> $1,145,381.35 for month of August, 2014. On roll call vote, the motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br />
