Build a patrol and investigations unit on top of the <br /> detention facility. It is time to be proactive rather than reactive. It is much more cost effective to <br /> build and plan for the future while keeping in mind growth and development. <br /> The Cass County Sheriff's Office is growing and initiating effective change is crucial to the <br /> organization. The patrol and investigative staff have outgrown the current working environment. <br /> As defined by Audrey Schriefer, a leading workplace expert, workplace strategy is "the dynamic <br /> alignment of an organization's work patterns with the work environment to enable peak <br /> performance and reduced cost." In The Agile Workplace Bell and Joroff estimated, based on <br /> survey data, that only five percent of U.S. corporations use space as a strategic tool. To offer the <br /> best value in today's chaotic work environment, workplaces must go beyond simple function and <br /> aesthetics to become a strategic business tool that supports emerging work practices and <br /> organizational culture (GSA office of Government wide policy 2006). <br /> Cass County Government has the opportunity to responsibly affect positive growth and change. <br /> It is the appropriate time to make these changes. <br /> While planning for change and positive growth, it is important to review best practices and what <br /> is proven to be effective. National trends in law enforcement are providing designated training <br /> space. This space allows the hosting agency to provide training to area law enforcement and <br /> allow the hosting agency to train without cost. The number of officers attending training at no <br /> cost would vary, depending on negotiations for the training. The Cass County Sheriff's Office <br /> has been progressive in training.
