through the living space to a security room on the other side of the dayroom. This increases the <br /> chances of the resident, Arresting Officer, or Detention Deputies getting injured, not to mention, <br /> is heard by every other juvenile in the facility. With the new facility, we hope to streamline this <br /> process. <br /> The Booking counter area and station should have space for a desktop computer, printer, and all <br /> the necessary items for intakes. Off the Booking room, we would require a large property room, <br /> and a private shower area in which to do shower searches of the residents before they enter the <br /> living quarters of Detention (this would provide for contraband control). The property room <br /> would need to have adequate space in order to securely and efficiently store resident property, as <br /> well as Detention clothing, shoes, blankets, and hygiene items which are issued to each resident <br /> upon arrival. Inside this property room should be a washer and dryer, in order to launder both <br /> Detention clothing and any wet/soiled clothing residents bring in. <br /> For the Attendant Care purposes, we would need 12-15 beds, separated into boys and girls <br /> sections, all in a dorm setting. This area would need separate bathrooms for each gender, to <br /> include a shower, sink, and toilet. Attendant Care will also need a small kitchen, the same as <br /> Detention, and a property/storage room, to include a washer and dryer. <br /> Alternative Sentencing Center <br /> Due to the growing need of more bed space available in the jail, our 24/7 numbers increasing on <br /> a daily basis, and the need for more bed space for a growing work release population, including <br /> the female work release population has dictated that we look at adding on an alternative <br /> sentencing/work release wing of the Cass County Jail to help aide in the influx of participants <br /> required by law to participate in sobriety programs.
