Commission Minutes--March 17, 1997 1596 <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT HEADS--PLEASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> MARCH 17, 1997 <br /> <br />MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with all members present as <br />follows: Donna Schneider, Paul Koenig, John Meyer, Roberta Quick and Alon Wieland. <br /> <br />MINUTES APPROVED MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Quick seconded that the minutes of the <br /> previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br />AGENDA, Order approved MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve order of <br /> the agenda with the following changes: 1) ratify Personnel Overview <br /> Committee action of March 17, 1997; 2) remove appointment to City of <br /> Fargo Planning and Zoning Commission because of a question on <br /> residency of the individual applying for the position; 3) add Sheriff's <br /> Department out-of-state travel; 4) request by Assistant State's Attorney <br /> Stephen Dawson withdrawn at his request; and 5) Social Services <br /> appeal under fair treatment policy moved to consent agenda. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #1997-8, Condolences to John Garaas family MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to adopt the <br /> following resolution of condolence for the family of John Garaas: On <br /> roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Cass County Commissioners has learned of the death of John <br />Garaas of Fargo, North Dakota; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John Garaas served as Cass County State's Attorney for four years--from <br />1971 through 1974. He also served as District Court Judge at the Cass County <br />Courthouse from 1978 until his retirement in 1988. <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Commissioners of Cass County, <br />North Dakota, does hereby express its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late John <br />Garaas. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be inscribed upon the permanent <br />records of the proceedings of the Board of County Commissioners and a copy forwarded <br />to his family. <br /> <br />Dated at Fargo, North Dakota, this 17th day of March, 1997. <br /> <br /> <br />
