Commission Minutes--March 17, 1997 1596 DEPARTMENT HEADS--PLEASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MARCH 17, 1997 MEETING TO ORDER Chairman Alon Wieland called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with all members present as follows: Donna Schneider, Paul Koenig, John Meyer, Roberta Quick and Alon Wieland. MINUTES APPROVED MOTION, passed Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Quick seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. AGENDA, Order approved MOTION, passed Mr. Koenig moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve order of the agenda with the following changes: 1) ratify Personnel Overview Committee action of March 17, 1997; 2) remove appointment to City of Fargo Planning and Zoning Commission because of a question on residency of the individual applying for the position; 3) add Sheriff's Department out-of-state travel; 4) request by Assistant State's Attorney Stephen Dawson withdrawn at his request; and 5) Social Services appeal under fair treatment policy moved to consent agenda. Motion carried. RESOLUTION #1997-8, Condolences to John Garaas family MOTION, passed Mrs. Schneider moved and Mrs. Quick seconded to adopt the following resolution of condolence for the family of John Garaas: On roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. WHEREAS, the Board of Cass County Commissioners has learned of the death of John Garaas of Fargo, North Dakota; and WHEREAS, John Garaas served as Cass County State's Attorney for four years--from 1971 through 1974. He also served as District Court Judge at the Cass County Courthouse from 1978 until his retirement in 1988. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Commissioners of Cass County, North Dakota, does hereby express its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late John Garaas. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be inscribed upon the permanent records of the proceedings of the Board of County Commissioners and a copy forwarded to his family.
