Comm. Minutes--September 5, 1989 322 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />SEPTEHBER 5, 1989 <br /> <br />1. MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chairman Don Eckert called the meeting to order with four members <br />present as follows: Oscar Sondrall, Don Eckert, Sharon "Pepper" <br />Toussaint, and Gene Shannon. Commissioner Alon Wieland was absent. <br /> <br />2. MINUTES APPROVED MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the <br /> minutes of the previous meetings of August 15 and August <br /> 18, 1989, be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. PERSONNEL DIRECTOR SELECTION COMMITTEE REPORT, Delayed <br />Chairman Eckert stated that there has been a request to change agenda <br />item ¢2, which is a report from the Personnel Director Selection <br />Committee, to 11:30 AM instead of at this time. Hearing no <br />objections, bhe report will be given later, <br /> <br />4. PERSONNEL POLICY REVIEW COMMITTEE, Staff commendation <br />Mr. Shannon read a staff commendation 'letter addressed to the twelve <br />members of the Personnel Policy Review Committee, which includes <br />subcommittees on salaries, benefits, policy and grievances. MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to send a <br /> staff commendation letter to each of the members of the <br /> committee on personnel policies. Motion carried. :, <br /> <br />5. PERMITS, Raffles , MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to approve <br /> applications for raffle permits for St. Benedict's Church <br /> on September 17, 1989; for Zion Lutheran Church, of Harwood <br /> on October 28, 1989; and for the Four Corners Wildlife Club <br /> of Embden on November 27, 1989. At Mr. Sondrall's request, <br /> the County Auditor read from the applications how these <br /> organizations intend to use the proceeds. Motion carried. <br /> <br />6. OFFICER'S REPORTS, Received and filed MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Shannon moved and Mrs. Toussaint seconded to receive <br /> and file Officer's Reports for August. Motion carried. <br /> <br />7. ABATEMENT HEARING, Jasper <br />A hearing was held on application for ababement and settlement of <br />taxes submitted by Lloyd and Ann Jasper for property in Reed <br />Township. County Director of Equalization Frank Klein was present <br />and stated that the Reed Township Board recommended a reduction in <br />valuation from $23,030 to $18,000 for the 1988 tax year. Mr. Klein <br />stated that there was some confusion as to the correct classification <br />but in his opinion, the land.is agricultural and should be valued as <br />such. He recommended reducing the valuation from $23,030 to $12,000 <br />as requested in the application. :, <br /> <br /> <br />
