74 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF OASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />MAY 51, 1988 <br /> <br /> Chairman Don Eokert called the meeting to order with all members <br />present as follows: Oscar Sondrall, Alon Wieland, Jeannette Stanton, <br />Ray Larson and Don Eckert. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Discussion was held on appointment of a County Judge to replace <br />Cynthia Rothe. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to <br />postpone the appointment until June 16, 1988, at a recessed meeting <br />from June 14th, which is Primary Election day. After discussion and <br />upon roll call vote, the motion carried with four members voting <br />"Aye" and Mr. Sondrall being opposed to delaying the appointment. <br /> <br />Mr. Elair Brothen from Information Systems Corporation was <br />present to discuss microfilming of County records, and he felt that <br />some further study may facilitate the record keeping system. <br />Administrative Assistant Diana Murack provided copies of information <br />gathered from County department heads on types of records that <br />need to be stored and records which can be destroyed. Mr. Wieland <br />moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded to direct Richard Offutt to schedule <br />a meeting between the microfilming industry and the Commission to <br />discuss what options are available. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> County Engineer Don Richards was present. Mr. Wieland stated <br />that he contacted Mr. Richards after the Commission meeting last week <br />to request further information on the culvert size referred to in the <br />County policy relating to work done by the Road Department for <br />townships. The Commission asked Mr. Richards to delay sending a <br />letter to the townships on this policy for one more week to allow <br />further review. <br /> <br /> Chairman Eckert requested Don Richards to schedule a meeting <br />at Kindred with local residents to discuss a bridge east of <br />Kindred. <br /> <br /> County Auditor Ordelle Brua asked the Commission to address an <br />item concerning election workers' compensation. Lois Altenburg and <br />Kit Scherber from the League of Women Voters in the Fargo area were <br />present and stated that they conducted a comprehensive survey of all <br />election board workers, and a ma3ority felt their payment was <br />inadequate. After further discussion, Mrs. Stanton moved and <br />Mr. Larson seconded to pay all election board workers at the rate of <br />the Federal minimum wage of $5.55 per hour, and that election clerks <br />be included in receiving an additional 25~ if they attend the <br />election training school. Mrs. 8rua noted that the additional cost <br />will be about $2,000.00 per election. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
