Motion carried.

Upon the request of Joel Young, Director of the Cass County
Vector Control District, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrali seconded
that the Chairman be authorized to sign the Salary and Pay Grade
forms for seven additional seasonal employees. On roll call vote,
the motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Director of
the Vector Control District be given approval to purchase up to three
vehicles, not to exceed $1,500 each, with prior notification to
either the Chairman or the Vice Chairman of the Cass County
Commission. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.

Jennifer Johnson Seltzer, Manager, and Fred Anderson from the
Red River Valley Fair Association appeared before the 8card seeking
approval for expansion of office space to the Commercial Building on
the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall
seconded to allow the Red River Valley Fair to create additional
office space on the Commercial Building, and authorize them to
finalize plans. Mr. Anderson stated that they will appear before the
County Commission with the final plans, along with a proposal for
building a horse barn which they are considering. Motion carried.

A letter was received from Christine Hogan, Chairman of the
Judicial Nominating Committee, submitting the following names
as candidates for the position of Cass County Judge vacated by
Cynthia Rothe: C. Charles Chinquist, Georgia Pope Dawson, Scott
Griffeth, Steven Mottinger and Edward Murphy. Mr. Larson moved and
Mr. Sondrall seconded to place an item on the agenda for next Tuesday
to make the appointment of Cass County Judge to replace Cynthia
Rothe. Mr. Sondrall asked what the term of the appointment would be,
and Chairman Eokert stated that it would be effective until
January 1, 1989. Mrs. Stanton suggested that the County make the
appointment after seeing which two candidates are nominated at the
Primary Election on June 14th. However, Mr. Wieland suggested making
the appointment with the idea that the person would have until
June 15th to decide if they will accept. At the call for the
question and upon roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
The Commission determined to recess the June 14th meeting to
June 16th at 9:00 A.M.

Upon the recommendation of County Engineer Don Richards,
Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Larson seconded to grant a utility permit
to Cass County Electric under County Road 26 at Gardner.
