71 <br /> <br /> Don Richards reported a net profit of $~6,173.64 from the <br />auction saie of unused Road Department equipment. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of County Engineer Don Richards, <br />Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Wieiand seconded to adopt the poiicy <br />statement, dated April 19, 1988, relating to work done by the County <br />Road Department for townships, amending the requirement on page 2 <br />that townships wouid pay for a 48" cuivert instead of a ouivert with <br />an end area of 50 square feet. Mr. Richards stated that the main <br />change in the policy is that townships wiii be charged $500.00 <br />instead of $i00.00. At the oali for the question and upon roli caii <br />vote, the motion carried with four members voting "Aye" and <br />Mr. SondraIi opposing. <br /> <br /> Discussion was held on the County Road Department's policy <br />on Iimiting the number of approaches to County roads. Mr. Eokert <br />asked Don Richards to provide the Commissioners with copies of all <br />Road Department poIicies. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Larson seconded to receive and file a <br />ietter from Caroi Lovejoy, Argusviiie City Commissioner, concerning <br />pians to buiid a County Shop at Argusvilie. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> A public hearing was held concerning the decision to close a <br />bridge between Sections 23-24, Stanley Township. Warren Solberg, <br />Stanley lownship Chairman, was present along with Anton Rutten and <br />Raymond Rutten. Mr. Solberg stated that it is their position that <br />there is a need for the bridge as it is a ma3or road in that part of <br />Stanley Township, and they feel the Cass County Commission has <br />3urisdiotion over this bridge. The Commission discussed alternatives <br />to the bridge, and County Engineer Don Richards stated that he has <br />made a determination that the bridge has lived its useful life and <br />cannot be repaired. Raymond Rutten asked about seeking proposals <br />from private bridge companies, and Mr. Wieland stated that he would <br />have no problem with delaying a decision for two weeks. <br /> <br /> Warren Solberg requested Cass County to place more permanent <br />barricades at the bridge site between Sections 23-24, Stanley <br />Township, to keep traffic from crossing the bridge. <br /> <br /> Chairman Eokert declared the public hearing closed, and stated <br />that a decision will be delayed if there is more information to be <br />provided in the next two weeks. <br /> <br /> Mr. Peter Xenides from Professional Building Services, Inc., <br />presented a contract for Courthouse janitorial services for the <br />period of one year at a cost of $4,505.21 per month. Mr. Xenides <br />stated that the contract is a copy of the one approved iast year by <br />the States Attorney, but with a 5~ increase. Hr. Wieiand moved and <br />Hrs. Stanton seconded that the Ohairman be authorized to sign the <br />contract with Professional Buiiding Services, Inc. at $51,6~8.52 for <br />the period of Juiy 8, I988 to Juiy 8, 1989. The motion carried on <br />roll call vote with four members voting "Aye", and Mr. Sondrall <br />opposing for the reason that Mr. Xenides' firm was not the lowest <br />bidder the last time bids were taken for cleaning services and <br />he felt the previous firm did a good job. <br /> <br /> <br />
