REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MARCH i5, 1988 Chairman Don Eokert called the meeting members present as follows: Jeannette Stanton, Larson, Alon Wieland and Don Eokert. to order with all Oscar Sondrall, Ray Mr. Larson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. Regarding a joint Law Enforcement Center proposal, Commissioner Larson stated that further information is needed from the Oounty Sheriff. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman of the Cass County Commission write a letter to the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund designating Administrative Assistant Diana Muraok to represent Cass County at their annual meeting in Bismarck on April 18, 1988. Motion carried. 'The Chairman stated that members of the Commission interviewed two people for' the position of County Planner, and both were excellent candidates. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to hire Earl Haugen as full-time Cass County Planner effective April 1, 1988, at an annual salary of $19,760.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Commission members discussed updating the accounting practices in the County Social Services Department. Diana Murack was requested to provide a print-out of accumulated sick leave benefits for County Social Services employees, and the matter was placed on the agenda for March 22, 1988. Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign documents to be sent to the North Dakota Association of Counties on crude oil overcharge refunds from the Department of Energy. Motion carried. Upon the recommendation of County Engineer Don Richards, Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign utility permits to U.S. Sprint to place a fiber optic cable under County Roads 1, 5, 5, 11, 15 and 19 on the Burlington Northern Railroad right of way. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Mr. Sondrall moved and Mr. Wieland seconded to approve payment from the Pothole and Street Repair Funds to the City of Buffalo in the amount of $442.00 and to the City of Hunter in the amount of $887.00. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Don Richards reported that load limits have been placed on the County roads, and the Ohairman reported that he sent a letter to the North Dakota Highway Department requesting their assistance in enforcing road restrictions.
