25 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF OASS OOUNTY BOARD OF OOMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 23, 1988 <br /> <br /> Chairman Don Eckert called the meeting to order with four <br />members present as follows: Jeannette Stanton, Oscar Sondrall, <br />Alon Wieland, Don Eokert. Oommissioner Ray Larson was absent. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the minutes <br />of the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> A hearing was held on Application for Abatement and Settlement <br />of Taxes submitted by Kathleen Ann Oiweii Pederson for property in <br />the City of Casselton. County Director of Tax Equalization Clarence <br />Miller stated that the application was denied by the City of <br />Oasselton, but Mr. Miller feels the property is over-assessed. Upon <br />the recommendation of the Director of Tax Equalization, Mrs. Stanton <br />moved and Mr. Sondra11 seconded that the assessed valuation be <br />reduced from $47,400 to $20,000 for the years 1986 and 1987. On <br />roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Administrative Assistant Diana Murack presented copies of the <br />Walsh County Charter on Home Rule, as requested by members of the <br />Commission. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of County Engineer Don Richards, Mrs. <br />Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to authorize the Ohairman to <br />sign the Agreements for Oonstructlon and Maintenance; the supporting <br />Resolutions No. 1988-4, 5, and 6; and the Right of Way Certificates <br />for three road projects to be included in the March 25th bid letting <br />in Bismarck, these being from Chaffee north three miles on County <br />Road 5; County Road 6 from Chaffee east to County Road 18; and a <br />bridge project near Durbin. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. Mr. Richards stated that he anticipates receiving <br />$850,000.00 in Federal Aid on these projects. <br /> <br /> Mr. Sondrall moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the County <br />Engineer be authorized to advertise for bids for bituminous paving <br />on County Road 15 from Kindred north to County Road 16 and west to <br />Davenport, to be paid from the 10 Mill Road Levy fund. On roll call <br />vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> County Engineer Don Richards stated that he received approval <br />from the Salary Review Committee for a new position in his office, <br />this being Engineer Tech. II. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Wieland <br />seconded that the County Engineer be authorized to hire an Engineer <br />Tech. II in Pay Grade 8 at an annual salary of $18,595.20. On roll <br />call vote, the motion carried unanimously. It was noted that the <br />Commission did not receive any correspondence on this from the <br />Salary Review Committee. <br /> <br /> <br />
