18 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 9, 1988 <br /> <br /> Chairman Don Eokert called the meeting to order with ail <br />members present as follows: Oscar Sondrall, Jeannette Stanton, Ray <br />Larson, Alon Wieland and Don Eckert. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the minutes of <br />the previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> A hearing was held on Application for Abatement and Settlement <br />of Taxes submitted by Cargill, Inc. Upon the recommendation of <br />Clarence Miller, Oounty Director of Tax Equalization, Mr. Sondrall <br />moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the abatement be approved as <br />submitted, and that the full and true value be reduced from <br />$12,545,500 to $8,801,100 for the year 1986. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> A hearing was held on Application for Abatement and Settlement <br />of Taxes submitted by Cargill, Inc. On roll call vote, the <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of States Attorney Robert Hoy, Mr. <br />Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to pay one-half of the cost <br />of the court transcript for Cargill, Inc., the cost to the Oounty <br />being $200-$210. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Upon the recommendation of John Meyer, Veterans Service <br />Officer, Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded to adopt <br />Resolution ~1988-5 cancelling 1987 taxes in the amount of $550.45 <br />for a disabled veteran. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> Regarding the Harwood Township request for cost-share on a <br />culvert, Mr. Wieland stated that he will meet with the people who <br />appeared before the Board last week and bring back a proposal to the <br />Commission in the next 2-5 weeks for possibly offering them some <br />help. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Larson seconded that a letter be sent <br />to all township chairmen advising them that the County Commission <br />recommends that anyone doing any drainage work or replacing culverts <br />should appear before their respective water resource district board, <br />even if not legally required; and that if it is anticipated that <br />Cass County will be sharing in the cost, it must be approved by the <br />County prior to construction. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> Tom Jensen, Social Services Director, appeared before the Board <br />regarding the proposed filing system for his department. He stated <br />that he does not anticipate any additional labor costs for <br />converting to the new system because he will be using volunteers <br />through the Community Work Experience program. <br /> <br /> <br />
