In conclusion, Mr. Goerger felt that reduction
of the speed limit to 40 miles per hour will not prevent accidents but it will drastically
reduce personal injuries. He again requested the Board to consider widening the road
and filling in some of the curves on the inside. The Board felt that the speed limit
should be left at 40 for some time yet, and that it is time to look over the 5-year road
construction program to determine priorities.

On motion by Mrs. Stanton and seconded by Mrs. Wold, the meeting was adjourned.

REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

JANUARY 3, 1979 (WEDNESDAY)

Chairman Satrom called the meeting to order and four members were present,
Mr. Sondrall being absent.

Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting
be approved as written. Motion carried.

Upon the recommendation of Steve Grindberg, County Road Superintendent, Mrs. Wold
moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the Chairman be authorized to sign the
utility permit with Cass County Electric for County Road 5. Motion carried.

Discussion was held on the bids received December 27, 1978, for the lease-purchase
of a new motor grader and for the sale of one used motor grader. The County Road
Department recommended that the Board accept the bid of ~he Butler Machinery Company,
which is not the low bid but .Mr. Grindberg feels it is a better unit and the service
is good. Former Road Superintendent Roy Scheffler was present and stated that he feels
the County would save the difference over a period of years between the low bid and
the bid of Butler Machinery Company. Mr. Harry Hawken from the Krider Equipment Company
was present and stated that they bid: two different models of their equipment,
and concerning the bids received on the sale of the used motor grader, he felt that
basically a county would be allowed between $3,500-$6,000 on any type of machine
they would be trading. Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mrs. Wold seconded that the Board
postpone their decision on the motor grader bids until next Wednesday and that each bidder
be invited to make a short presentation on the machine which they bid. Motion carried.

The Official Oath of Office was administered by District Court Judge Norman Backes
to the following newly elected County officials taking office as of January 1, 1979:
Sheriff Donald J. Rudnick, States Attorney Cynthia A. Rothe, County Court Judge Michael O.
McGuire and .Cass County Commissioners Patricia Wold and H. A. Hendrickson.

On motion by Mrs. Wold and seconded by Mr. Hendrickson, the meeting was adjourned.

ADJOURNED MEETING OF CASS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

JANUARY 10, 1979

Chairman Satrom called the meeting to order and upon roll call, all members
were present.

Mr. Hendrickson moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that the minutes of the previous
meeting be approved as written.
