<br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF CASS COUNTY, NORTH DAKOTA <br /> <br />Discussion was held with Clarence Miller, County Director of Tax Equalization, <br />and with the County Road Department concerning the County purchasing right of way for <br />road construction projects. Mr. Miller stated that it is becoming increasingly difficult <br />for him to do the appraisal work because he is unable to obtain land sale information <br />on which the appraisal must be based according to Federal law. At his suggestion, <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mrs. Stanton seconded that a letter be written to the State Highway <br />Department requesting recommendations from them on how to handle the County's right of way <br />purchase problem. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The Commissioners were served a Writ of Mandamus signed by Judge John O. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Lowell Siebels appeared before the Board and presented petitions with <br />approximately 1,600 signatures calling for an advisory vote of the citizens of Cass County <br />concerning the erection of new bridges within the City of Fargo. Mr. Siebels suggested <br />that this advisory vote be taken at the same time as the school elections rather than <br />spending additional County money for a special election. However, the County Auditor <br />stated that the City of Fargo does not hold their school election at the same time <br />as the others. Mrs. Stanton moved and Mr. Sondrall seconded that the petitions <br />received to date from Mr. Siebels be received and filed. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mrs. Wold moved and Mr. Hendrickson seconded that the Application for Abatement and <br />Settlement of Taxes submitted by Otto Holmen be received, filed and referred to the <br />City of Horace.
