Brent
Service Officer

Beth Fischer
Service Representative

May 14, 2002

Cass County Commission
Attn: Commissioner Wieland, Chair

Daniel J. Mc Carthy
Service Representative

RE: Budget Adjustment Request

Dear Commissioner Wieland:

I have just completed selecting individuals for employment from the 60 applications
received. Attached is a communication concerning details on those selected I sent to
Commissioner Schneider, my portfolio.

Veterans Service Representative, Dan McCarthy, terminated employment as of April
30th and Beth Fischer, will retire as of June 30th. I am anxious to start the new
employees as soon as possible to take advantage of Beth's knowledge, skills and
abilities in the training of these individuals. I have visited with Debbie Ness, of the
Auditor's office and she has advised that in order to start both on May 21st would
require a budget adjustment of approximately $5,500.00.

Neither of the new employees have experience in veterans service and are not at all
familiar with the rules, laws or regulations governing the work we do. I will be gone
for ten days in the month of June to attend a national training program so it is
imperative that we get them on board and started training as quickly as possible.

Thanking you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely, / ~

cc: Commissioner Schneider

Cass County Govemm~t Annex · Box 2806, 1010 SecoM Aveaue South · Fat, go, North Dakota 58108 ' 701-241-5745 · Fax 701-239-6821
