Brent, Jim G.

From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:

Contacts:

Brent, Jim G.
Saturday, May 11, 2002 2:13 PM
'sdsnodak@aol.com'
Employment Status

Donna Schneider

Good Afternoon Commissioner: I all I received 60 applications for employment with our Department. 17 applicants failed
to provide proof of military service and one only provided his first name. About half of the applicatns were service
connected disabled, war time veterans. Following screening I interviewed three men and three women and selected the
following:

Michael J. Vandrovec, a service connected disabled United States Air Force veteran who entered service from Fargo, ND,
and served on active duty from July 26, 1966 to January 23, 1970. He is very active in the veterans community especially
with the Disabled American Veterans organization where he currently serves as Department (State) Judge
Advocate/Adjutant. Mike took an early retirement from his position as an Outside Plant Quality InspectodContract Liaison
with US WestJQWest. Mike's references speak very highly of his character and abilities as well as his total dedication to
veterans and veterans issues. Mr. Greg Seurer, National Service Officer with the Disabled American Veterans, stated that
we could never find a more qualified, bright, or capable disabled veteran to fill this position.

Lori T. Bailes, a service connected disabled United States Army veteran who entered service from Fargo, ND, and served
on active from July 1, 1983 to June 4, 1996. Ms. Bailes was separated from the Army due to her service connected
disability. She is currently employed with the Federal government as a Lead Military Personnel Clerk, GS-0204-05, with
the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) here in Fargo. Her military occupational speciality for her many years of
active military service was Personnel Administration Specialist which I believe makes her well suited for our position. Her
military supervisor at the MEPS shared that she is an extremely hard working and dedicated employee who he believed
would work quite well with veterans and their families.
