Commission Minutes—August 15, 2012 4047 MOTION, passed Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to remove two positions, the HCBS Social Worker II and one EWI Position-Aged and Disabled Unit. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to remove a third position which would be decided by Mr. Ammerman. On roll call vote, the motion carried with Mr. Pawluk, Mr. Vanyo and Mr. Wagner voting in favor. Opposed: Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Sorum. MOTION, failed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to remove a fourth position which would also be decided by Mr. Ammerman. On roll call vote, the motion failed with Mr. Vanyo and Mr. Wagner voting in favor. Opposed: Mr. Pawluk, Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Sorum. Mr. Ammerman recommended removing the EW Supervisor-Aged and Disabled Unit as the third position. MOTION, passed Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to include one Legal Secretary Position; one (SNAP) EWI Position; and one EWI Position- Aged and Disabled Unit in the 2013 preliminary budget for Social Services. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. MOTION, passed Mr. Pawluk moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the 2013 preliminary budget for Social Services as amended. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 14. FARGO CASS PUBLIC HEALTH Ruth Bachmeier, Director of Public Health, was present and provided a summary of the 2013 preliminary budget for Fargo Cass Public Health. Ms. Bachmeier thanked the Commission for their continued support as Federal funding is decreasing. She said they are planning to seek funding from the state in the next legislative session. They are requesting $686,541 for 2013 which is a 6.2% increase. Mr. Pawluk asked why the county pays 40% of the school nurse budget and said the schools should be asked to increase their contribution to the school nurse budget. Mr. Bennett said the schools should provide the entire school nurse budget. MOTION, passed Mr. Pawluk moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the 2013 preliminary budget for Fargo Cass Public Health. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. Heidi McLean, Jail Nursing Supervisor, was present and said they are proposing that one of the three part-time LPN positions at the Cass County Jail be increased to a full-time position allowing for the nursing staff to be increased to two on-duty nurses during the evening hours. Also included in the 2013 budget is a line item for nursing scrubs as all nurses will be required to wear scrubs for safety and identification purposes.
