<br /> <br />23 <br /> <br /> c. No more than 4 tanks in series can be used to <br />obtain the required liquid volume. <br /> <br /> d. The first tank shall be no smaller than any <br />subsequent tanks in series. <br /> <br /> 16. Outlet pipe from septic tank <br /> <br />a. The outlet pipe from the septic tank must not be <br />cast in iron. <br /> <br />b. The outlet pipe extending from the septic tank <br />must be of sound and durable construction, not <br />subject to corrosion or decay. <br /> <br />c. The outlet pipe extending from the septic tank to <br />the undisturbed soil beyond the tank must meet <br />the strength requirements of the American <br />Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), <br />schedule 30-34 40 plastic pipe and must be <br />supported in a manner that there is no deflection <br />during the backfilling and subsequent settling of <br />the soil between the edge of the septic tank and <br />the edge of the excavation. <br /> <br /> d. The soil around the pipe extending from the <br />septic tank must be compacted to original density <br />for a length of 3 feet beyond the edge of the tank <br />excavation. <br /> <br /> 17. Capacity <br /> <br />a. Dwelling – the liquid capacity of a septic tank <br />serving a dwelling shall be based on the number <br />of bedrooms contemplated in the dwelling served <br />and shall be at least as large as the capacities <br />given below: <br /> <br />
