He reviewed sales and assessments in the area and considered the information presented by Mr. Williams to arrive at this value. The chairwoman asked if Mr. Williams was present or represented by anyone, and no one came forward at this time. MOTION, passed Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Wagner seconded that the John Williams assessment at 406 4th Street East, Horace, be set at $91,500 for 2004; and that the local assessor review the assessment and inspect the property for 2005. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. As directed at the June 21 st county equalization meeting, Mr. Klein reviewed commercial assessments in the subdivisions on the south side of 52nd Avenue in Stanley Township. He inspected the neighborhood and compared the structures on a value per square foot basis. He said it appears the newly constructed buildings are being valued closer to market than other properties, causing inequities in the assessment. Some possible reasons this situation exists may be that building permits were missed, work may have been performed without building permits, land values have increased, and increased costs of construction. Mr. Klein said he discussed the assessments with the local assessor and the township clerk and both indicated this area is scheduled for a reappraisal for 2005. Mr. Klein felt It necessary to increase some assessments to bring these properties closer in line for 2004, and he said the County Auditor's Office notified the ten affected taxpayers of the intent to increase these properties. MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Wagner seconded that the following commercial structure assessments be increased to the amounts listed below: On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously.
