Commission Minutes-April 6, 2009 3501 <br />8. CITIZEN COMMENTS <br />Jeff Volk, Moore Engineering, provided digital and aerial maps of the county. He said a lot of <br />water still needs to travel through the river systems. Currently, overland flooding from the <br />Sheyenne River is occurring in the Kindred and Horace areas and breakouts will continue <br />for the next several weeks. He discussed release of water from the Bald Hill Dam in Valley <br />City and its effect on this area. He said the Maple River Dam is full and is functioning well. <br />He said much of the flooding concerns are dependent on the rate of snow melt. <br />Jerry Gwost, resident of Lake Shure Estates in Reed Township, was present. He said <br />breakout corridors create flooding in their subdivision. He also discussed concerns about <br />access to their subdivision during flooding and suggested a study be done on one of the two <br />bridges to address this concern. <br />9. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Bennett moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />234,526 through Voucher No. 234,813. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />10. VETERAN'S SERVICE OFFICER; FLOOD TOUR, Committee reports <br />Mrs. Johnson said packets containing each of the applicants for the Veteran's Service <br />Officer position have been prepared for commissioners. She suggested a deadline of April <br />30th for commissioners to score the applicants. Testing and interviews will then be <br />scheduled. <br />Mr. Bennett said Jim Brent, Veteran's Service Officer, is retiring this week and asked about <br />whether an acting director will be appointed until the position is filled. Mrs. Johnson <br />suggested she and Mr. Bennett discuss this item after the meeting. <br />Mr. Wagner said he, Sheriff Laney and Mr. Berndt will tour flood damaged areas tomorrow <br />with the state insurance commissioner. <br />11. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOT/ON, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Pawluk seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br />Letter from North Dakota Department of Transportation requesting information on <br />flood damage that impacts federal aid routes; <br />Letters from North Dakota Department of Transportation regarding Cass County <br />project bid openings to be held April 17, 2009, and May 1, 2009, in Bismarck; <br />Notice of Cass County Township Officers' Association annual spring meeting at <br />7:30 PM on April 16, 2009, at the Governor's Inn in Casselton, North Dakota. <br />12. ADJOURNMENT <br />MOTION, passed <br />On motion by Mr. Wagner, seconded by Mr. Vanyo and all in favor, the <br />meeting was adjourned at 5:30 PM. <br />
