Mr. Burdick said it appears the
township has some enforcement tools available. If the township properly enacts a
regulation and adopts a comprehensive plan, hearings may be held to determine if a
violation of a zoning regulation has occurred. The township has the ability to set civil
penalties and assess costs. Mr. Pawluk said he believes many townships feel they do not
have adequate resources or funds to enforce their zoning regulations and suggested the
townships need to be informed of the process available to them. Mr. Pawluk will contact Del
Losing from the Township Officers' Association to relay this discussion and will provide him
with Mr. Euren's phone number for further information.
