November 8, 2008

Mr. Perry Ronning
Overseer of Highways
Stanley Township
Re: Bridge over Wild Rice River Section 35&36

Dear Perry,

It is well into the second year since the Township Bridge that crosses the Wild Rice River
to our [am; \vas damaged. It has yet to be fixed as was promised by the Cass County Road
Engineer, who stated that it would be fixed before the first snowtall of last year. Snow has
already fallen in this current year and the bridge still has not been repaired.
The high waters resulting from recent rains have damaged the area even more with a
consider-able amount of er0Sion occurring on the north approach to the bridbre. At present, there
is a hole ten feet deep, four teet across and three-fourths of the width of the bridge. .I JeeJ this
condition can no longer be allowed to remain static. This inaction of the county is no longer
acceptable, We are approaching the time of year when the snowfall will cause us to drive over
eight miles to get our mail when our mailbox is only I{)(,,-attd a quarlCf-mile away from our house.
I urge the Stanley Township Board and the Cass County Highway Department to get together
and have the bridge repaired.
The city of Fargo is pursuing a flood prevention plan that is going to disrupt any of our
traveling to the W"eSt and I see this bridge as a \\laY to alleviate any COnbre5tion problems that may

occur.

r request that this item is placed on the townships next agenda and that action is taken to
remedy this situation. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,

~n~~~

iW(~ ~J U fR)'

1nJi NOV ) 2 2C08 I~!
L____."_ i
CASS CO HIGH\t./AY' DEPT.
