All the properties I expected to
sell sold at the auction. The total dollars realized from the sale is $9,650 versus the
$14,414.07 in taxes owed on the properties; this amounts to a loss, but not nearly as
much as what I anticipated. We also had over $10,000 in expenses to clean up one
of the parcels before the sale. Our total loss this year would be about $15,000
compared to a gain of $23,000 last year.

The deeds on the agenda today are for three purposes:

· A quit claim deed to Paul Austin for a property redeemed on the
morning of the sa Ie
. County deeds to purchasers of lots
· County deeds to the City of Fargo and the City of Alice for unsold
properties in those cities

Sincerely,

~~~
Michael Montplaisir, CPA
County Auditor
SUGGESTED MOTION:
Move to authorize the chairman and the county auditor to sign deeds for properties
redeemed and/or sold.
J:\AUDITOR\PROPTAX\Annual Sale\2008\COMMISSION DEED LETTER.doc
