<br />Commission Minutes-November 17, 2008 3442 <br /> <br />8. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />230,973 through Voucher No. 231,300. On roll call vote, the motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />9. COURTHOUSE BASEMENT STORAGE; BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS UPDATE; <br />LEGISLATIVE LUNCHEON; ND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ASSOCIATION; FLOOD <br />LOT LEASE; ELECTION UPDATE, Committee reports <br />County Administrator Bonnie Johnson said the Clerk of District Court is in the process of <br />moving files from the north basement storage room of the Courthouse to the third floor file <br />room recently allocated by the commission. She said two buildings and grounds staff and <br />two jail inmates are assisting with the project. She said about 50% of the space will be freed <br />up after the removal of these files, which will provide options for other county offices at the <br />Courthouse. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson said vent cleaning at the jail, a project done twice per year, was completed <br />today. She also said the final section of cast iron pipe was replaced at the Cass County <br />Annex over the Veteran's Day holiday last week. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson reminded commissioners of the legislative luncheon scheduled for this Friday, <br />November 21,2008, in the Commission Room, beginning at 11 :45 AM. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner was asked by the North Dakota County Commissioners' Association to serve on <br />their legislative committee. He accepted the offer and will serve again on this committee. <br /> <br />State's Attorney Birch Burdick received a request from Extension Services to build a restroom <br />on the flood lot leased by Cass County 4-H Outdoor Skills. The lot is near Durbin, North <br />Dakota. Mr. Burdick said FEMA would need to give final approval to the request. The board <br />did not have any objections with Extension Services moving forward with their request. <br /> <br />County Auditor Michael Montplaisir discussed the 2008 General Election. He said 40% of <br />Cass County residents voted before the election through the early voting or absentee <br />process. Mr. Vanyo chaired the Canvas Board meeting last week and commended Mr. <br />Montplaisir and his staff for their work. <br /> <br />10. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />- Revised 2009-2010 Federal aid program sheet from the North Dakota Department of <br />Transportation (copy referred to county engineer); <br />- letter from the North Dakota Department of Health requesting comments on a <br />proposed permit renewal for a municipal solid waste landfill located near Fargo, North <br />Dakota. <br />
