Commission Minutes-November 17, 2008 3442 8. VOUCHERS, Approved MOTION, passed Mr. Vanyo moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to approve Voucher No. 230,973 through Voucher No. 231,300. On roll call vote, the motion carried unanimously. 9. COURTHOUSE BASEMENT STORAGE; BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS UPDATE; LEGISLATIVE LUNCHEON; ND COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ASSOCIATION; FLOOD LOT LEASE; ELECTION UPDATE, Committee reports County Administrator Bonnie Johnson said the Clerk of District Court is in the process of moving files from the north basement storage room of the Courthouse to the third floor file room recently allocated by the commission. She said two buildings and grounds staff and two jail inmates are assisting with the project. She said about 50% of the space will be freed up after the removal of these files, which will provide options for other county offices at the Courthouse. Mrs. Johnson said vent cleaning at the jail, a project done twice per year, was completed today. She also said the final section of cast iron pipe was replaced at the Cass County Annex over the Veteran's Day holiday last week. Mrs. Johnson reminded commissioners of the legislative luncheon scheduled for this Friday, November 21,2008, in the Commission Room, beginning at 11 :45 AM. Mr. Wagner was asked by the North Dakota County Commissioners' Association to serve on their legislative committee. He accepted the offer and will serve again on this committee. State's Attorney Birch Burdick received a request from Extension Services to build a restroom on the flood lot leased by Cass County 4-H Outdoor Skills. The lot is near Durbin, North Dakota. Mr. Burdick said FEMA would need to give final approval to the request. The board did not have any objections with Extension Services moving forward with their request. County Auditor Michael Montplaisir discussed the 2008 General Election. He said 40% of Cass County residents voted before the election through the early voting or absentee process. Mr. Vanyo chaired the Canvas Board meeting last week and commended Mr. Montplaisir and his staff for their work. 10. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed MOTION, passed Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to receive and file correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. - Revised 2009-2010 Federal aid program sheet from the North Dakota Department of Transportation (copy referred to county engineer); - letter from the North Dakota Department of Health requesting comments on a proposed permit renewal for a municipal solid waste landfill located near Fargo, North Dakota.
