services for clients receiving assistance from TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) <br />in order access employment opportunities. The top priority for this project would be to create a <br />regional transportation coordinator position. <br /> <br />The federal amount to be used through September 30, 2006 is $100,000. Cass County can use <br />TANF transportation funds as part of the required matching dollars. Ms. Swenson requested that <br />part of the monies the County budgeted in the salary line item that will not be expended be used <br />to provide additional matching dollars. She requested a one-time contribution of $15,750 from <br />this line item. <br /> <br />Wade Kline from the Metropolitan Council of Governments said this position would be fi'om V4 <br />to 1 full time employee who will be responsible for the administration of JARC funds, the <br />implementation of Metropolitan Access to Jobs Plan and portions of the Transit Development <br />Plan, and work both with both private and public agencies to expand awareness of existing <br />transportation services. <br /> <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Ms. Dahley seconded to authorize the modification of the Cass <br />County Social Service Board's 2004 budget for a one-time contribution of $15, 750 to be <br />used as local match towards the funding of a Regional Transportation Coordinator <br />position at F/M Metropolitan Council of Governments. On a roll call vote motion <br />carried unanimously with all members voting in favor. <br /> <br />~ Budget Adjustment - Comouter/Ecluioment Purchases <br /> <br />Jerry Skjonsby presented a list of equipment he would like to purchase for the agency that had <br />been cut from the proposed 2004 budget. The money to purchase these items would come from <br />the funds set aside for salaries that will not be expended because of employees being frozen at <br />the state maximum salary. The items he requested were: 11 computers (These were in the <br />Information Technology Department's replacement plan); one digital camera and one digital <br />camcorder; furniture for children's visitation room; three printers for Family Services. <br /> <br />Ms. Holes-Dickson moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to authorize the transfer/amendment <br />of the Social Services budget in the amount of $28,100from various salary/benefit line <br />items to computer and office equipment line items. On a roll call vote motion carried with <br />all members voting in favor. <br /> <br />Aooointment of General Assistance Task Force <br /> <br />Ms. Hogan reminded the Board that during the 2004 budget hearings, the issue of reimbursement <br />of burial costs to funeral homes through the General Assistance Program was discussed. The rate <br />was not changed during that process, but it was agreed a task force be formed to study this. <br /> <br />Ms. Sorum moved and Mr. Meyer seconded the Board Chairman appoint three Board <br />members to review the General Assistance Policy as it relates to burials and payment <br />practices and to prepare recommended changes. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
