I think raising the stack by 13 feet is a reasonable
distance and reduce the potential of generator combustion fumes from entering the buildings outside air Intakes. It
must be kept in mind however that wind and building configurations are difficult if not impossible to completely
understand so there may stili be a periodic potential with just the right wind speed and direction for problems.
However in our opinion the potential Is greatly reduced by the extension.

Attached are two pictures of the existing generator stack that Grant had forwarded to us.

David Obermiller, PE
Project Mechanical Engineer
OBERMILLER NELSON ENGINEERING
701-280-0500
Cell 701-371-5370

-----Orlglnal Message-----
From: Grant Johnson [mallto:gejohnson@grantsmechanlcal.com]
Sent: Thursday, October 09, 2008 11 :36 AM
To: daveo@obernel.com
Subject: Re: JAIL GENERATOR STACK

Dave:
I have left with my wife to spend the profits from the Vets Home project. So today or tomorrow won't work. Please
find attached to photos I took from ground level. Also I was on site with Gene Gartner and took measurements.
The stack discharge is about level with Intake to the SE AHU recently Installed. Also to the NE is another Intake
hood serving the 2nd recently Installed AHU. My proposal is to extend the stack vertically approximately 13 ft. We
will be guying the stack from the walls at a distance of approximately 8-10 It below the stack temination. I will
also provide for additional supports in the generator room to carry the extra loading. My proposal also Includes
extending the generator crankcase breather vents above the existing fresh air Intakes. These are the 2 rusty black
iron pipes. Added extension will not affect exhaust back pressure for the 16" diameter stack.

I have coordinated the extension with John Backland of Adams Inc. the original supplier of the Selkirk
Metalbestos "IPS" stack.

Please see attachments:

Grant EJohnson, PE
President
Phone: (701)-232-8891
Fax: (701)-237-4711
Cell (701)-866-6550

1- Original Message ---
From: David P.
