TOday, while Tom from, Foss, was on the roof with us to look at our
structural problems with the generator cooling tower, we started up the generator. This would be the second start up
since we began using the H pod. We had the same poor result. Diesel fumes from the generator stack were sucked into
the fresh air intakes in the H Pod. I have attached the photo from last week to show the location of the generator stack
and the fresh air intake.

Two times we have used the generator since the inmates were moved, and both times the pod has filled with fumes. I
suspect, the high wall addition of the new Pod wall has worked to create a "swirl" of the diesel fumes in this location
rather than allowing the fumes to dissipate. Can you check with the design team regarding this? I know the set-up meets
code for the separation distance, but we are not getting the exhaust our of the comer. Let me know what you learn.
Thanks.

Bonnie Johnson
County Administrator
iohnsonb@casscountvnd.Qov
701-241-5720 (voice)
701-297-6020 (fax)

1
