4.

Q

Building Committee-October 8, 2008 2

COURTHOUSE THIRD FLOOR RE-USE PLAN UPDATE
Mrs. Johnson said the order for modular furniture to fit-up the space on the
Courthouse third floor will be finalized tomorrow. She said interior office layouts
for the State's Attorney and Veteran's Service Offices will also be finalized and
she plans to have total cost figures for the county commission to review at their
next meeting. She said it will take six to eight weeks for the product to arrive
once it has been ordered.

COURT FACILITIES IMPROVEMENT GRANT APPLICATION
Mr. Wagner said the building committee needs to discuss if the county should
apply for funding through the court facilities improvement grant process. Last
year, the county chose to pass on the round of grants for 2008 because the
county might be in a better position to move forward on a new addition in 2009.
He asked committee members for their thoughts on submitting an application for
next year.

Mr. Vanyo suggested waiting to apply, unless there is an immediate need. He
said once a decision is made on a west addition the county could consider
submitting a larger grant request. Mrs. Johnson said no court improvement
projects are scheduled for 2009 and the grant application requires a detailed
explanation of planned projects. Judge Herman believes the best option is to
hold off on a request and he asked when the county submits a request, if the
allocation will be for court-related expenses associated with a new addition. Mr.
Wagner said this would be the plan when applying for future grant funds.

Committee members agreed to forego submitting a request for grant funding in
2009. The county commission would need to formally approve the decision not
to apply and authorize to send a letter to the Court Facilities Improvement
Advisory Committee.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Montplaisir moved and Judge Herman seconded to forego
requesting grant funds from the Court Facilities Improvement
Advisory Committee in 2009 and to send a letter to committee
informing them of the decision not to submit an application next
year. Motion carried.

6. NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held Wednesday, November 12th at 4:00 PM.

7. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION, passed
On motion by Mr. Montplaisir, seconded by Mrs. Johnson, and
all voting in favor, the meeting was adjourned at 4:35 PM.

Minutes prepared by Heather Worden, Administrative Assistant
