<br />Concrete: The original quantity estimates had considered building the entire project with <br />asphalt. Prior to construction, I changed two project areas to use concrete instead of <br />asphalt. These areas were the old part of Horace and the roundabout area. This will <br />result in a better overall value in these permanent portions of the project. At the time I <br />decided to use concrete in these areas I also revised the asphalt mix design to use a <br />Minnesota DOT specification that takes advantage some recycle asphalt at a cost savings. <br />The net result of the two changes was that we could do concrete for about $100,000 more <br />than asphalt. <br /> <br />Right of Way Acquisition: This exceeded the May projection by about $200,000. <br /> <br />Demolition: Earlier estimates had not accounted for demolition costs of buildings. <br />We've had to demolish 5 grain bins, a barn, storage shed, house and garage. (Have not <br />yet bid house and garage demo) <br />
