PHSP4100903 SP 01 Ph 02 <br /> <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br /> <br />This grant entitles the Cass County Sheriff's Office funding to conduct enforcement activities within <br />Cass County. Funding for this project is provided through the National Highway Traffic Safety <br />Administration (NHTSA) under the authority of D.S.C. 4 I O. The objective of this enforcement <br />project is to provide the public with the safest roads possible by removing the impaired driver. The <br />success of this project will be built upon the strategy that education, along with high-visibility <br />enforcement, is an effective means to change driver behavior. Funding is also provided to reimburse <br />travel expenses associated with the efforts and duties ofthe law enforcement liaison to be conducted <br />through the Cass County Sheriff's Office. <br /> <br />The Cass County Sheriff's Office will conduct targeted saturation patrols and/or checkpoints to <br />detect activities and apprehend alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers. These enforcement activities <br />will be conducted at least once each quarter throughout the fiscal year. The Cass County Sheriff's <br />Office will also participate at least four nights during the national crackdown campaign. The following <br />criterion should be included in all operating procedures: <br /> <br />1. Problem identification to determine which enforcement strategies best address the needs <br />of the community. <br /> <br />2.
