Attendant Care Subcommittee Minutes
August 19, 1994

Members present: Brad Cogdill, Glen Ellingsberg, Mary Hall, Kathy
Hogan, Nancy Horton

The group reviewed the charges to the sub-committee which was to
develop a short and long term plan for Attendant Care based on the
established requirements and caseloads. First we reviewed the
Attendant Care requirements. For the first client served, 80
square feet are required and for every additional client an
additional 50 square feet are needed. During the past year up to
8 clients have been seen at one time, so the group agreed that we
should try to secure at least 500 square feet for long term
stability.

The long term ~ptions ~ere discussed first. After reviewing the
layout for the basement, it was agreed that the best option would
be to use the current sheriff's evidence room, if it complies with
program and code requirements. There was some concern about the
ex it and entrance through the EFNET kit chen if it were used.
Possibly a second entrance can be added through the Women's
restroom area.

The short term use of the small conference room was discussed. It
was agreed that during the construct ion phase, that opt ion is
feasible without major cost or inconvenient. The large table will
be moved into the large meeting room. It is not the intention of
the group that the small conference room will be the long term
solution and if the long term option outlined is not feasible, then
the group will re-convene to look for other long term options.

To implement this plan the following steps will be taken:

1. The County Commission wi 11 be asked to approve the short-
term Attendant Care plan on September 6, 1994 as directed
by the Space and Planning Commission.

2. Nancy will contact Terry Traynor, NDAC's to discuss the
long-term solution and to seek his assistance in
reviewing the plan to ensure that it meets funding
requirements. He will also be asked to provide financial
assistance for remodeling costs.

3. Kathy Hogan wi 11 contact Terry Stroh to review any
architectural barriers or code problems.

If the long-term option appears feasible a proposal will be
developed with the task force, Terry Traynor and Terry Stroh.

The group will re-convene as needed.
