Commission Minutes-June 16, 2008 3370

Mr. Losing said Tower City raised their own assessments by 3~% for next year. He
feels Tower City is similar in size and location to Buffalo City and believes a 3~%
increase is fair.

Mr. Wagner asked about new construction and existing properties which sold in
Buffalo over the last year. Mr. Klein spot checked properties in addition to reviewing
sales in Buffalo, and he said the county would be further behind in their assessments
if leniency was given to the smaller cities.

Antoinette Babcock, Buffalo City council member, was present. She said one
property sold and one new home was constructed within the last year. She asked
how an increase is justified if property values have reached a plateau over the last
year.

Mr. Wagner said this job is challenging and said valuations need to be fair to all
taxpayers.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded that the following cities and
townships be adjusted as indicated below, and as recommended by the
Director of Equalization: Discussion: Mr. Bennett commended Mr.
Klein and his work; however, he prefers the City of Buffalo values be
raised 4% rather than 5%, considering Buffalo only had one property
sale in the last year. On roll call vote, the motion carried with four
members voting "Aye" and Mr. Bennett voting "No".

Jurisdiction
Amenia City
Briarwood City
Buffalo City
Casselton City
Horace City
Leonard City
Arthur Township
Clifton Township
Erie Township
Everest Township

Recommended Adiustment
5% increase residential lots and structures
2% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential structures only
5% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential lots and structures
2% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase commercial and residential
lots and structures
3% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase residential lots and structures
2% increase residential lots and structures
3% increase residential lots and structures
5% increase commercial and residential
lots and structures

Lake Township
Maple River Township
Noble Township
Pontiac Township
Raymond Township
Reed Township
Rochester Township
Wheatland Township
