The County ofCass and the City of Fargo must agree to the sharing of these funds as both of our entities are considered disparate jurisdictions under federal guidelines. Our office is asking that you agree to the sharing of these funds and in doing so, will enter into an lnterlocal Agreement which is attached. This grant does not require a local match and the Cass County Sheriffs Office proposes to use $5,000.00 of the new 2008 Byrne grant funds on expenses incurred with respect to our narcotic trained canine with the balance of$26,353.00 going to the Fargo Police Department for equipment and staff time. I would ask that the Grant Application and lnterlocal Agreement be placed on your regular agenda for June 16, 2008 to give the public an opportunity to comment on the grant request per federal guidelines. Sample Motions: Move to approve the electronic application for the 2008 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) on behalf ofCass County and the City of Fargo. Authorize Glenn Ellingsberg, Sheriff's Office to submit said application and to file subsequent electronic filings which may be required during the grant period on our behalf.
