<br />CASS COUNTY BUILDING COMMITTEE <br />MARCH 12,2008-4:10 PM <br /> <br />1. MEETING TO ORDER <br />Committee Chairman Scott Wagner called the Cass County Building Committee meeting <br />to order on Wednesday, March 12,2008, at 4:10 PM with the following members present: <br />East Central Judicial District Judge Doug Herman; County Auditor Michael Montplaisir; <br />County Commissioner Darrell Vanyo and County Commissioner Scott Wagner, County <br />Administrator Bonnie Johnson was absent. Also present were Dennis Kimme, President, <br />Kimme & Associates; Jim Rowenhorst, Correctional Consultant, Kimme & Associates; <br />and Rick Hoganson, President, Foss Architecture & Interiors. <br /> <br />2. MINUTES APPROVED <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Judge Herman seconded that the minutes of the <br />previous meeting be approved as written. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. COURT DESIGN FEES, Payment options discussed <br />Judge Herman said after several discussions with Chief Justice Gerald VandeWalle, the <br />state has agreed to provide $25,000 to help pay for consulting fees. He will speak with <br />Chief Justice VandeWalle about additional funds for the project. Judge Herman said they <br />may request grant funding during the next legislative session as well as request some <br />state funds be earmarked to pay for special security needs of the courts. <br /> <br />Mr, Wagner said Cass County did not submit a request to the Court Facilities <br />Improvement Committee this year because of the probability of requesting assistance <br />next year in anticipation of building addition needs, <br /> <br />4. SCOPE OF WORK, Reviewed <br />Mr. Kimme reviewed the scope of work with committee members, He said the goal is to <br />identify immediate and long-term space needs through 2030, create a master plan, and <br />determine the best possible solution with the funding available, He suggested when the <br />consultants return for future visits, they conclude their visit with an update to building <br />committee members, <br /> <br />Mr. Vanyo requested consultants look at space on 3rd floor currently occupied by the <br />Re~ional Child Support Enforcement Unit (RCSEU). The RCSEU lease ends on May <br />31s and he asked consultants if they can provide some direction on the best use of the <br />space, <br /> <br />5. NEXT MEETING <br />The next meeting will be held Wednesday, April 9th at 4:00 PM, There was discussion <br />whether Mr. Kimme and Mr. Rowenhorst will have information available for the next <br />meeting, Mr, Kimme said they may be ready to provide an update and, if so, they will try <br />to attend the meeting. <br /> <br />6. ADJOURNMENT <br />MOTION, passed <br />On motion by Mr. Vanyo, seconded by Judge Herman and all voting in <br />favor, the meeting was adjourned at 4:35 PM. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by Heather Worden, Administrative Assistant <br />
