<br />APPENDIX B <br /> <br />MINIMUM CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />A. SEWAGE TANKS <br /> <br />1. General <br /> <br />a. All tanks shall be concrete, pre-cast, or cast in place <br />regardless of material or method of construction and <br />shall be: <br /> <br />1. Watertight. <br /> <br />2. So designed and constructed as to withstand all <br />lateral earth pressures under saturated soil <br />conditions with the tank empty. <br /> <br />3. So designed and constructed as to withstand a <br />minimum of seven feet of saturated earth cover <br />above the tank top. <br /> <br />4. Not subject to corrosion or decay. <br /> <br />b. Any tank not having an integrally cast bottom shall not <br />be installed when the water table is closer than three <br />(3) inches to the bottom of the excavation at the time <br />of construction. <br /> <br />2. Septic Tanks <br /> <br />a. Design - all tanks shall conform to the following criteria: <br /> <br />1. The liquid depth of any septic tank or compartment <br />thereof shall not be less than 30 inches. A liquid <br />depth greater than six and one-half (6 Y2) feet shall <br />not be considered in determining tank capacity. <br /> <br />18 <br />
