<br />Commission Minutes-January 7, 2008 3309 <br /> <br />Mr. Berglund asked the commission to allow Fargo Cass Public Health to monitor tanning <br />parlors in Cass County in accordance with a memorandum of understanding with the State <br />of North Dakota. Each tanning parlor will be required to apply for an annual permit with <br />Fargo Cass Public Health at a cost of $75 per tanning parlor plus $10 per tanning bed, <br />charges not to exceed 10 beds, or $175 annually. Mr. Wagner asked if tanning parlors in <br />small municipalities will be required to purchase permits also. Mrs. Johnson replied under a <br />state law all municipalities would be covered. Mr. Berglund stated the City of Fargo has <br />adopted an ordinance regarding monitoring tanning parlors. Mrs. Johnson said West Fargo <br />would need to sign a contract with Fargo Cass Public Health for this purpose as they do not <br />have their own public health facility. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to authorize Fargo Cass <br />Public Health to monitor sun tanning parlor regulations for the State of <br />North Dakota, according to a Memorandum of Understanding with the <br />State of North Dakota and to set the annual permit fee at $75 per tanning <br />site with a $10 per bed charge not to exceed 10 beds. On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />7. VOUCHERS, Approved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Vanyo moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve Voucher No. <br />223,065 through Voucher No. 223,466. On roll call vote, the motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />8. BUILDING COMMITTEE; OPEN HOUSE; NEW STATE'S ATTORNEY EMPLOYEES; <br />VETERAN'S SERVICE; HEAD START BUILDING; COUNTY PROPERTY, Committee <br />reports <br />Mrs. Johnson said the Building Committee meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday, <br />January 16th at 4:00 PM. Mr. Wagner asked Mr. Burdick to comment on the status of the <br />contract addendum with Foss Architecture & Interiors for the courthouse west addition. Mr. <br />Burdick said he will have it ready tomorrow. <br /> <br />Mrs. Johnson reminded commissioners of the open house for Scott Crane of United Way <br />being held today from 4:00-6:00 PM, in honor of his recent resignation from the agency. <br /> <br />Mr. Burdick reported a secretary, and two attorneys began their duties in the State's <br />Attorney Office today. Salary for one of the attorneys was included in the 2008 budgeting <br />process with funding for the other attorney being through a Federal COPS grant. <br /> <br />Mr. Vanyo said he visited with Jim Brent regarding the need for additional office space and <br />employees. Mr. Vanyo would like to review caseload statistics from 2007. <br /> <br />Mr. Montplaisir stated he is continuing to work with the Fargo Housing Authority and <br />Redevelopment regarding the status of the former Head Start building. <br /> <br />The commissioners discussed properties surrounding the courthouse campus and the <br />probability of trying to obtain adjoining property for future expansion in the event that <br />property becomes available. <br />
